06th February 2020 Pizza Express Event type: Training

Join us for a lively night of Prosecco and games while learning how to make your own pizza. Kick off the night with a glass of Prosecco and some legendary PizzaExpress Dough Balls. Then get stuck into dough tossing and pizza making, taking your pick from a mouthwatering selection of fresh ingredients. As you’re making your own pizza, your dedicated party host will keep spirits up – and the fun rolling.

The main theme will be tailoring the message for impact as; with a few key improvements that we will share anyone can significantly improve the effectiveness of their speaking and become a more confident public speaker.

Speaker

Michael Rothon is the 2020 Deputy President for JCI Southampton. In 2018 Michael spoke at the National Convention Public Speaking Competition using the skills he developed after attending the JCI UK Public Speaking Academy.

The theme for our skills development programme in 2020 is all about “How to…” Providing our members and other young professionals/students in the Southampton area the opportunity to develop key career and life skills.

In an increasingly changing world it’s important that we take on the challenge of lifelong learning and that’s what our ‘How to…” programme will be all about.

Join us for a fun, relaxing evening!

We’ll be promoting the JCI European Conference in Dublin #EC2020 with some Irish themed games.

There will also be live music from 9.30pm for those that would like to stay.

How to… Think Differently: a taster session exploring how to use LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® in business and enterprise.

Overview

This hands on session will provide a practical insight into the world LEGO® Serious Play®. Participants will have the opportunity to experience how this creative methodology works and also how can be used to improve communication, team work, strategies and leadership in all areas of business and enterprise.

Speaker

Ben Mizen, Ideas Alchemy Consulting Limited & Solent University

Ben is passionate about learning and the positive impact that it can have on individuals, teams and organisations!

Qualified and experienced as a teacher, youth worker and adviser, Ben has worked with numerous agencies with learning and training as the main focus. During his time as an adviser, he further developed his interests in creative management and leadership, with the Kaospilots in Denmark, and also became a trained LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® facilitator. In 2018 Ben founded Ideas Alchemy which blends the worlds of smart thinking, innovative training, pure creativity, team development and organisational culture. It operates on the belief that developing your team creates greater capacity and deeper understanding to navigate the world of work and life! Ben also lectures part-time in Business and Management in the School of Business, Law & Communications at Solent University, where his academic interests are in using play as a driver for developing learning, enterprise, creativity and innovation.

11th April 2020 Bargate Event type: Social

Join the JCI Southampton team to take part in the ”Witchcraft & Wizardry’ – giant detective adventure all across town!

Wands at the ready detectives!

Transporting you into a magical, fantasy world of witchcraft and wizardry, our enchanting outdoor adventure experience will see hundreds of wizards from all over town, competing to defeat dark-magic and save the realm. Can your team of wizards unravel the mystery and crack the case in time?

Depending on how good we are at mystery solving, the event will last anywhere between 1 and 4 hours – but the average squad of magicians take around 2 hours 20 minutes to solve the mystery.

We only have limited spaces on the team (as it’s up to 6) so please book on quickly if you want to take part. Fancy dress optional!

Spaces first come first serve with members as the priority.
