July 2009 once again saw JCI Southampton support the children of Chernobyl by hosting a summer barbecue and day of entertainment for the Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline charity.
Organised by JCI Community Officer Chris Moseley, the day gave a selection of children from Chernobyl the chance to enjoy themselves and bask in some of our rare British sun. The children are currently in the UK staying with host families as time away from their home in Chernobyl helps nullify the effects of the ever present radiation on their bodies.
JCI Southampton would like to thank its members and local businesses for their support in making the day possible, with special mentions going to Sainsbury’s for their generous donation, the lovely Mrs Moseley for her potato salad and JCI members Richard Kelman, Ciaran Greenwood, Simona Hamblett and Carly Newport for their help on the day.
This annual barbecue is part of JCI Southampton’s dedication to improving the local community and world that we live in through charitable actions. Keep checking the JCI events page at www.jcisouthampton.co.uk for details of our next community event.
